KRAFTY TIPS & TUTES- Watercolor Galaxy Background

Hello everyone!
Krafty Girl Brianna here with an "out of this world" tutorial.
I've been recently hooked on making galaxy backgrounds using my watercolor markers and wanted to share with you all, how I do it.

Supplies needed: Water Color paper (any brand), I'm using Spectrum Noir- Spectrum Aqua Watercolour cardstock.
*Water Color Markers (any brand) I used, Spectrum Aquas
*White Acrylic Paint
*H2O Brush
* Paint Brush-used to apply paint
* Spray bottle of water
* Paint Pallet or Acyclic Block
Items used but not pictured- box, sparkle pen, white gel pen, sequins

Step 1: Color markers directly on dry cardstock. I typically pick colors that I know will blend well together. I also like to go from dark to light or light to dark.
Colors used for today's card are: Marine, Red Violet, Begonia, Meadow & Black-not shown.
Step 2: Activate the colors by spraying heavily with water spray bottle. After spraying, I will typically pick paper up and move around to blend colors better. Set aside and let dry or hit paper with heat tool.
* Make sure paper is completely dry before moving onto next step, or paper may tear*

Step 3: For darker spots in your galaxy use your black watercolor marker and color directly onto the paper. I usually just randomly pick three spots to do this.
Next, grab your paint pallet tray or your acrylic block and color a swatch of black marker on there as well, this will be used to blend and add lighter color.

Step 4: Use you H20 water brush to move your newly added black marker around on the paper. I find working in a circular motion works best. Once I blend out the darker sections, I will pick up some of the color from my palette to add lighter areas to background. You only want small sections of colors peaking through the black.
If you want color to move around better, spray a couple mist of water.

**Set aside and let dry or heat with heat tool before moving onto next step**

Before adding my stars,
I like to add a couple water droplets to project after its completely dry, let sit about 60 seconds. This will re-activate the ink and pulls away some color when blotted up with paper towel, gives it more of that Galaxy feel.

Step 5: Adding Stars-This step can get messy, so find an old box so you don't ruin your floors or craft desk.
Take some of your acrylic paint and paint brush and splatter paint onto background. This will give you the effect of stars. I will sometimes dilute the paint with a little bit of water to make it splatter easier.
* Set a side and let dry a couple hours*

Step 6: Finished card
Stamp set used: You Lift Me Up

I feel the work is all worth if for this outcome... I just love how these backgrounds turn out. I like my galaxy to really sparkle, so I will use my Spectrum Sparkle Pen (clear) over the entire top of background. I added some more stars using my white gel pen and then finished up by adding some misc. clear sequins.
